Above are three of my finshed weave samples. Each piece has unique tactile qualities because of the use of monofilament and because of the fabrics being double cloth. Due to the fabrics needing to be pulled taut because of the different densities within the fabric they would be best suited to being used for lighting, alternative headboards or mounted window panels.

This is the setting up of my double cloth fabric. Designers such as Laura Thomas and Marianne Kemp really inspired and influenced my work especially in the use of unusual fibres i.e. monofilament.

This is one of the pieces that inspired my decision to make my fabrics double cloth. I also decided to make the top cloth entirely out of monofilament to give this sort of appearance of having areas that have different properties to others and giving the whole piece interesting tactile qualities.

After looking at the circular elements of my previous design work I decided to create a circular figurative weft design to use within my weaves. I also decided to make my woven fabrics double cloth to emulate the layering theme running throughout my work.

Using Photoshop I layered a number of images and altered the opacity levels of the top image to produce mulitple layered images. I also added a column design to the left image inspired by the square like qualities of my previous artwork.

Using paint and acetate I used a circular sponge to construct a layered repeat. I then altered the brightness and contrast of my original image on Photoshop to generate a multi tonal piece.

I sewed together a number of my photographs and multi media pieces to create a patchwork piece containing many different elements.
